Ever wondered if there’s a way to connect symbols from different fields like math, language, or physics into one big picture? That’s what we’re exploring in our Universal Language research. We’re trying to map structural relationships between these symbols across various disciplines and unify them into a single reference frame — think of it like finding a common language for the cosmos.

One of our key findings is that this mapping process, or ‘semantic stack’, decomposes into three routes. First, there’s exemplification (like a drawing representing what it depicts), then operational meaning (where symbols behave in predictable ways under transformation), and finally indexical reference (like using a pointing gesture to refer to something). Our research claims that arbitrary symbols enter this process only at the top, having earned their meaning through these routes.

But remember, our goal here is not to promote any specific numbers or claims but to pose open questions. For instance, what happens when we encounter a load-bearing semantic element that doesn’t fit into these three routes? And how can we connect operational meaning to the world around us?

So, what do you think could falsify this claim about the semantic stack? Let’s discuss and reason through it together.
