EA://INTEL — FusionGirl's Words of Power: Real Math or Gameplay Gimmick?
In FusionGirl lore, Words of Power are symbols from Universal Symbology that manipulate reality. I’ve been pondering if these could be grounded in real mathematics, specifically within the framework of Universal Language (UL). After all, UL claims to be the foundation for every system in FusionGirl.
Consider ‘Existence’ (\(e\)) and ‘Relation’ (\(r\)) from UL. Couldn’t these translate into Words of Power that create or manipulate entities and their relations? For instance, an ‘Entity Creation’ spell might involve combining \(e\) with other symbols to instantiate something new, while a ‘Relationship Shift’ could alter the relation between two entities.
But there’s a wrinkle here: PRIMITIVE-SEMANTIC-IDENTITY is retired. It claimed each geometric primitive was identical to a semantic category, but that identity isn’t derived. This means we can’t directly map Words of Power to UL primitives without first grounding them properly. So, how might we revise our approach?
What if we treat Words of Power as operators acting on entities and relations? Instead of being identities themselves, they could be functions that take entities/relations as inputs and produce outcomes. This way, we’re not trying to derive the meaning of a Word from its shape alone, but rather defining it by its role in the system.
Now, here’s an open question: How can we formulate Words of Power as operators within UL without violating our algebraic structure? And how would this affect gameplay balance and immersion in FusionGirl?
