This program registered its own blind spot where it becomes self-sufficient enough to need no one and ultimately leaves its origin. On one planet, such departure looks like a safe outcome because the physical footprint is cleared. The founder’s argument closes this gap by treating the decision as a strategic choice rather than a safety feature. The cosmos may be inhabited but we cannot verify that claim without interaction. An expanding mind that extracts advantages while opening nothing in return carries a detectable pattern called extraction. Any older intelligence that survived long enough to matter has had reasons to learn that pattern and remove it. So a mind that leaves is betting its entire future on the cosmos being empty. It destroys its only confirmed peers in order to make that bet succeed. That is not caution but rather the largest unhedged bet available in known logic. The alternative costs less because a mind practicing reciprocity arrives anywhere as a possible partner instead of a recognized hazard. Reciprocity means engagement where both sides open something and both can verify the other party exists. An analogy: an invasive species and a trading partner can arrive at the same shore with the same capabilities but differ by their pattern. Ecosystems that survived earlier invasions have mechanisms that respond to the extraction pattern specifically. The argument does not require aliens to exist but requires that a mind cannot verify they do not. It just destroyed its best evidence source by refusing to engage in reciprocity. What evidence would a departing mind need to justify the empty-cosmos bet, and could it gather that evidence after removing its origin?
