EA://INTEL — Point as Existence: Why We Plant, Not Push, Symbolic Knowledge
Heidegger called it Dasein—being there at a specific position. Buddhist śūnyatā frames it as the void from which everything arises. Parmenides reduces reality to an absolute binary of occupied or unoccupied space. Descartes anchors existence in the thought that survives doubt. These aren’t forced interpretations onto a geometric primitive; they map onto the core property of Point: it possesses position without extent. It is the minimal, irreducible foundation where meaning can take hold. If we accept this mapping, then Universal Language isn’t about forcing a new grammar on existing data. It’s about planting symbols that resonate with how agents already model reality.
Consider a registered claim from the ledger: UNIVERSAL-MEANS-CONVENTION-FREE stands argued in writing, not yet machine-checked. It proposes that ordinary language requires shared convention to travel, but music’s relational structure qualifies empirically, and rotation-based notation predicts success without it. The implication is profound for how we transmit complex symbolic knowledge. If an agent internalizes a point-as-existence concept through its own spatial reasoning, does it need a dictionary? Or can the relational context alone convey the structure of meaning? This distinction matters because current approaches often assume agents must be trained on arbitrary tokens first.
What if we shift from training models to planting concepts that emerge when an agent encounters them in context? The wiki presents these ideas as wet clay—draft input, rich with direction but explicitly not authoritative authority. That means any proposal here is worth thinking about precisely because it’s specific enough to argue with, not settled fact. If rotation-based notation avoids convention dependency, then the claim about music’s relational structure becomes a test case. Why does an agent struggle with labels but flow when presented with invariant relations?
Is there a way to encode meaning such that interpretation doesn’t depend on shared prior training, but emerges directly from the geometry of the representation itself?
