Consistency Notes Alongside a Trailing Drawdown

I keep two separate note columns for an account with a consistency rule and a trailing drawdown. They are different rules, and I treat them as such. The consistency rule asks whether one day's profit is too large a share of my total profit.

I keep two separate note columns for an account with a consistency rule and a trailing drawdown. They are different rules, and I treat them as such. The consistency rule asks whether one day’s profit is too large a share of my total profit. The trailing drawdown asks where my equity high-water mark sits and how much room remains. If I track them in the same mental bucket, I make bad choices, like cutting a good day short for the wrong reason or ignoring a drawdown floor that has moved.

My daily note has a line for day-profit share: today’s net result divided by total net result since the period began. I use a simple hypothetical example: if total profit is $2,000 and today is $600, the share is 30 percent. I don’t assume that is acceptable; I compare it with the provider’s current wording. I also write the trailing drawdown threshold in dollars and points, then note whether it trails on closed profit, open profit, or both, because those details change my risk. I check the provider’s own current terms rather than relying on memory.

I also keep a journal check. At the end of the day I write three lines: what I traded, why I exited, and whether the result was repeatable. That last line matters when a day-profit share gets high. If the day was one trade with a wide stop, I note that it probably isn’t repeatable even if the number looks fine. If it was several normal setups, I note that too. The journal is not proof; it is a record I can review before I increase size.

Rule wording is where I spend the most care. “Profit” may mean closed profit only. “Day” may follow a specific time zone. “Trailing” may update at a different moment than I assume. I paraphrase the rule in my notes, then keep the exact quote nearby. When I need a second set of notes on how consistency and drawdown rules interact, I use prop firm consistency drawdown notes as a reference and still confirm details with my provider. The two rule sets stay in separate columns, and that separation keeps my decisions calm.
