Wallet of Satoshi vs Rizful: My Switch to a Nostr-Enabled Lightning Wallet

Wallet of Satoshi vs Rizful: My Switch to a Nostr-Enabled Lightning Wallet

When I first started using Nostr, I didn’t think much about wallets. I just wanted something simple that worked. I needed to send and receive sats, zap posts, and move on. For that, Wallet of Satoshi worked well. It was fast, easy to set up, and required almost no learning.

But over time, the way I used Nostr changed. I wasn’t just zapping occasionally anymore. I was spending more time on Nostr, interacting more, and building things. That’s when I started noticing the limits of using a wallet that wasn’t really designed for the Nostr world.

That’s what led me to switch to Rizful.

Starting Out with Wallet of Satoshi

Wallet of Satoshi is great for beginners. You install it, and within minutes you’re ready to use the Lightning Network. There’s no technical setup, no need to understand nodes or channels, and payments are straightforward.

For someone new to Bitcoin Lightning, that simplicity is valuable.

But as I became more active on Nostr, I realized something important: the wallet felt separate from everything else I was doing. Every zap or payment meant switching contexts, copying invoices, or working around limitations. It worked, but it didn’t feel natural.

Another thing I noticed was that Wallet of Satoshi isn’t really Nostr-oriented. It’s not designed to integrate directly into the Nostr ecosystem, and communication or support happens mostly outside Nostr itself.

That might not matter to casual users, but if you live on Nostr daily, you start to feel the gap.

Discovering Rizful

I started looking for wallets that were built with Nostr in mind from the beginning. That’s when I found Rizful.

What stood out immediately was the focus on integration. Rizful supports Nostr Wallet Connect, which changes the experience completely.

Instead of manually handling invoices all the time, your wallet can connect directly to apps. Payments and zaps become seamless. You approve what you want, but the friction is gone.

It feels less like using a separate payment tool and more like money is built into the social experience itself.

Another thing I appreciated is that the people behind Rizful are reachable on Nostr. That matters. Projects that live inside the ecosystem tend to understand users better because they are part of the same environment.

Why Nostr Wallet Connect Matters

Nostr Wallet Connect is one of the biggest improvements in the Lightning and Nostr experience.

It allows wallets and apps to talk to each other securely through relays. Once connected, your wallet works in the background while you interact with clients and services.

That means:

  • Zaps are smoother

  • Payments are faster to approve

  • The overall experience feels unified

Once you get used to this, going back to manual workflows feels slow.

Other Wallets in the Ecosystem

Rizful isn’t the only wallet moving in this direction.

Alby is another strong example. It helped many people get started with Lightning and Nostr, and over time it has moved more toward self-custody and deeper integration. That shift gives users more control, though it can be a bit more complex for beginners.

Coinos is another wallet that many people experimented with. Some users liked it for its speed and simplicity, though the project has gone through changes and rebuilding phases over time. That’s normal in a young ecosystem where teams are still figuring things out.

The important thing is that experimentation is happening. The ecosystem is evolving, and better tools are emerging because of it.

What Changed for Me

Switching wallets didn’t feel like a dramatic move at first. It felt like a small experiment.

But after using a Nostr-native wallet for a while, I realized how much smoother everything felt. Zapping became effortless. Connecting apps became normal. The wallet stopped feeling like a separate tool.

It became part of the environment.

That’s the difference that’s hard to understand until you experience it.

Where Things Are Heading

Nostr is still early. Wallets, relays, and apps are evolving quickly. What feels advanced today may feel basic in a few years.

But one direction is clear: payments are becoming part of social interaction. Money and messaging are blending together. Wallets that understand this shift will shape how people use Nostr in the future.

Tools built specifically for this world will always feel better than tools adapted later.

Parting Shot

“Switching from Wallet of Satoshi to Rizful transformed my Nostr experience — I went from treating wallets as separate tools to having a wallet that works seamlessly inside the Nostr ecosystem. While Wallet of Satoshi is great for basic Lightning entry, Nostr Wallet Connect wallets like Rizful or Alby give you the connected future that Nostr is building toward.”

Rizful is currently a web-app 🤙🏾

Nice thx for sharing. 🔥 I see no mobile app for it, am I wrong ? 🇮🇹
