Public Wi-Fi: a five-minute connection checklist
Published by Korp VPN.
Before opening an important account on public Wi-Fi, check the connection as carefully as the app. A familiar network name alone does not establish who operates it.
- Confirm the network with the venue and avoid unexpected login pages asking for unrelated account credentials.
- Keep your operating system and browser updated. Never bypass a certificate warning.
- Use the legitimate website or official app. HTTPS protects the connection to that destination; it does not establish that a lookalike destination is trustworthy.
- If you use a VPN, check that its app reports an active connection before continuing. A VPN adds a tunnel to its provider, so the provider’s policies still matter.
- After you change networks, check the connection again.
Korp VPN offers Android and iOS apps. See the official downloads, current plans and privacy information at https://korpvpn.com/ . Watch the product demonstration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JV1J1yixUJg .
Choose a VPN as one part of your connection habits. Password security, account authentication and safe browsing remain separate responsibilities.
