The Islamic Dajjal (the False Messiah) (Anti Christ) and the Jewish Mashiach (the awaited Messiah)

The Islamic Dajjal (the False Messiah) (Anti Christ) and the Jewish Mashiach (the awaited Messiah)

The Islamic Dajjal (the False Messiah) (Anti Christ) and the Jewish Mashiach (the awaited Messiah) are conceptually opposite in their respective traditions — yet some striking overlaps exist in how Islamic eschatology views the Dajjal and how some Muslims interpret the Zionist conception of the Mashiach.

🔻 Similarities: Islamic Dajjal vs. Certain Zionist Views of the Mashiach

  1. Claim to Divinity Dajjal (Islam): Will claim to be God — one of the greatest lies ever told.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned that Dajjal will say, “I am your Lord.” image

Zionist Mashiach (as interpreted by some Muslims): Some Islamic scholars view the Zionist Mashiach — especially one tied to rebuilding the Temple and world rule — as a false messiah who claims divine authority, and thus could be Dajjal in disguise.

  1. Political & Global Power Dajjal: Will control the world’s resources, media, and political systems. Will deceive people with miracles.

Zionist Mashiach: In certain Jewish mystical traditions, he is seen as ruling the world from Jerusalem, bringing global law and authority under Torah (see Sanhedrin 98). From a Muslim eschatological lens, this global dominance by deception parallels Dajjal.

  1. Jerusalem as Capital Dajjal: Will attempt to enter Mecca and Medina but will be denied. Will be headquartered in Sham (Greater Syria) or Jerusalem in some narrations.

Zionist Mashiach: Expected to rule from Jerusalem, rebuild the Third Temple, and initiate global theocratic governance.

This creates theological conflict, especially with Islamic beliefs about Al-Aqsa Mosque and the sacredness of Jerusalem.

  1. Performs Miracles / Technological Wonders Dajjal: Brings “heaven and hell” — appears to control rain, food, and even resurrection. Islamic scholars say these are illusions, perhaps technology or mass deception.

Mashiach (in Kabbalah/Midrashic texts): May be accompanied by supernatural signs, like reviving the dead, commanding nature, or military triumphs.

This aligns with how some Muslims see the Dajjal system as using AI, media, and global finance to simulate divine power.

  1. Followed by Many, Including Jews Dajjal: Will be followed by 70,000 Jews of Isfahan, according to hadith (Sahih Muslim), wearing shawls.

Zionist Mashiach: Is, of course, awaited by many Jews. Some Muslims interpret this connection to mean Jews will unknowingly follow the Dajjal, thinking he is the Mashiach.

  1. Temporal World Order Dajjal: Represents a materialistic, deceptive world order, based on usury (riba), greed, and oppression.

Zionist Mashiach (from a political lens): Tied to the rise of Zionism, financial control, and military dominance — things Muslims associate with Dajjalic systems.

☪️ In Islamic Eschatology: The real Messiah is ʿĪsā ibn Maryam (Jesus), who will return, kill the Dajjal, and establish true justice.

The Dajjal is a counterfeit messiah — he deceives people into thinking he is the savior.

The desire among some in Israel to accelerate the appearance of the Messiah (or Mashiach in Hebrew) stems from religious and ideological beliefs, particularly among religious Zionists and messianic Jewish movements. This, however, is dangerous as:

  • It weaponizes religion to justify expansionism or oppression.
  • It risks endless conflict under the guise of divine destiny.
  • Apocalyptic movements (Jewish, Christian, or otherwise) sometimes believe that escalating conflict or “chaos” can hasten divine intervention.
  • Some extremist settler groups or ideological influencers in Israel support expansion and aggressive policies under this messianic logic.
