I used to put my whole evaluation budget into one prop firm. It felt tidy, but it also meant one rule change or one drawdown mistake could end the month. Now I split a hypothetical budget, say $600, into two $300 allocations. I am not trying to double my odds or chase a lucky account. I am trying to spread exposure across different rule sets.

The first step is writing down what each firm actually asks. I compare daily loss limits, trailing versus static drawdown, consistency rules, news restrictions, and payout terms. I do not assume one model is better. I just check whether I can follow it on a normal trading day. If a rule would make me hesitate, that is a sign the allocation is wrong for me.

I keep the setup boring. Two accounts, two small allocations, one spreadsheet. I track fees, account size, and the first payout target in the same place. I do not add a third firm mid-month because I am bored or because one account is red. The split is fixed until the evaluation period ends, then I review it.

A simple checklist helps me:

  • Read the current rules on each firm’s site.
  • Confirm the fee and payout terms myself.
  • Set the same risk cap for both accounts.
  • Stop adding money if either account breaks my plan.

The point is diversification of rules, not diversification of hope. If both firms have nearly identical terms, splitting may add admin work without much benefit. If they differ in ways that affect my behavior, the split can keep one bad week from deciding everything. I also check current comparisons and terms through PropFirmDealsHub before I commit, then verify details with each provider.

At the end of the month, I ask one question: did the split make my decisions calmer and more consistent? If not, I simplify again.
