5:18 Al-Maaida

‎وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَىٰ نَحْنُ أَبْنَاءُ اللَّهِ وَأَحِبَّاؤُهُ ۚ قُلْ فَلِمَ يُعَذِّبُكُمْ بِذُنُوبِكُمْ ۖ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ بَشَرٌ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ ۚ يَغْفِرُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ الْمَصِيرُ

But the Jews and the Christians say, “We are the children of Allah and His beloved.” Say, “Then why does He punish you for your sins?” Rather, you are human beings from among those He has created. He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills. And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, and to Him is the [final] destination.

Allah forgives all sins except associating others in worship with him (including claiming that the prophet Jesus peace be upon him is worthy of worship as a son of God or reincarnation of God as the prophet Jesus peace be upon him is only a human given gifts to be signs to lead people to worshiping Allah alone).

Also, many people think that confessing is sufficient for them to be forgiven or that they repent straight before death while doing all sorts of sins in their lives which is wrong as the repentance on the death bed is not accepted.

يغفر الله جميع الذنوب إلا الشرك به (بما في ذلك الادعاء بأن النبي عيسى عليه السلام مستحق للعبادة كابن لله أو تجسيد لله، إذ أن عيسى عليه السلام بشرٌ مُنح هباتٍ لتكون آياتٍ لهداية الناس إلى عبادة الله وحده).

كما يظن كثير من الناس أن الاعتراف بالذنب كافٍ للمغفرة، أو أن التربة مقبولة قبل الموت مباشرةً بعد ارتكابهم شتى أنواع الذنوب في حياتهم، وهذا خطأ، إذ لا تُقبل التوبة على فراش الموت.

4:17 An-Nisaa

إِنَّمَا التَّوْبَةُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السُّوءَ بِجَهَالَةٍ ثُمَّ يَتُوبُونَ مِنْ قَرِيبٍ فَأُولَٰئِكَ يَتُوبُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا

The repentance accepted by Allah is only for those who do wrong in ignorance [or carelessness] and then repent soon after. It is those to whom Allah will turn in forgiveness, and Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.

4:18 An-Nisaa

وَلَيْسَتِ التَّوْبَةُ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السَّيِّئَاتِ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَهُمُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ إِنِّي تُبْتُ الْآنَ وَلَا الَّذِينَ يَمُوتُونَ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا

But repentance is not [accepted] of those who [continue to] do evil deeds up until, when death comes to one of them, he says, “Indeed, I have repented now,” or of those who die while they are disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful punishment.

4:47 An-Nisaa

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ آمِنُوا بِمَا نَزَّلْنَا مُصَدِّقًا لِمَا مَعَكُمْ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ نَطْمِسَ وُجُوهًا فَنَرُدَّهَا عَلَىٰ أَدْبَارِهَا أَوْ نَلْعَنَهُمْ كَمَا لَعَنَّا أَصْحَابَ السَّبْتِ ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ مَفْعُولًا

O you who were given the Scripture, believe in what We have sent down [to Muhammad], confirming that which is with you, before We obliterate faces and turn them toward their backs or curse them as We cursed the sabbath-breakers. And ever is the decree of Allah accomplished.

4:48 An-Nisaa

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَمَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ افْتَرَىٰ إِثْمًا عَظِيمًا

Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin.

Everything is recorded in each persons book so every actions and every word said count. However, good action would worth nothing for a disbelieving person.
كل شيء يُسجّل في كتاب كل شخص، لذا فإن لكل فعل وكلمة قيمة. مع ذلك، فإن العمل الصالح لا قيمة له لمن اشرك بالله.

50:16 Qaaf

‎وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ وَنَعْلَمُ مَا تُوَسْوِسُ بِهِ نَفْسُهُ ۖ وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِيدِ

And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein

50:17 Qaaf

‎إِذْ يَتَلَقَّى الْمُتَلَقِّيَانِ عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٌ

When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left.

50:18 Qaaf

‎مَا يَلْفِظُ مِنْ قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ

Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer (angels) prepared [to record].

6:160 Al-An’aam

مَنْ جَاءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُ عَشْرُ أَمْثَالِهَا ۖ وَمَنْ جَاءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَلَا يُجْزَىٰ إِلَّا مِثْلَهَا وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ

Whoever comes [on the Day of Judgement] with a good deed will have ten times the like thereof [to his credit recorded in his/her book], and whoever comes with an evil deed will not be recompensed except the like thereof; and they will not be wronged.

18:103 Al-Kahf

‎قُلْ هَلْ نُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِالْأَخْسَرِينَ أَعْمَالًا

Say, [O Muhammad], “Shall we [believers] inform you of the greatest losers as to [their] deeds?

18:104 Al-Kahf

‎الَّذِينَ ضَلَّ سَعْيُهُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ يُحْسِنُونَ صُنْعًا

[They are] those whose effort is lost in worldly life, while they think that they are doing well in work.“

18:105 Al-Kahf

‎أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَلِقَائِهِ فَحَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ فَلَا نُقِيمُ لَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَزْنًا

Those are the ones who disbelieve in the verses of their Lord and in [their] meeting Him, so their deeds have become worthless; and We will not assign to them on the Day of Resurrection any importance.

18:106 Al-Kahf

‎ذَٰلِكَ جَزَاؤُهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ بِمَا كَفَرُوا وَاتَّخَذُوا آيَاتِي وَرُسُلِي هُزُوًا

That is their recompense - Hell - for what they denied and [because] they took My signs and My messengers in ridicule.

18:107 Al-Kahf

‎إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ الْفِرْدَوْسِ نُزُلًا

Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - they will have the Gardens of Paradise as a lodging,

18:108 Al-Kahf

‎خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا لَا يَبْغُونَ عَنْهَا حِوَلًا

Wherein they abide eternally. They will not desire from it any transfer.

Last minute repentance is not accepted as in the example of the Pharaoh fighting the prophet Moses peace be upon him.

لا تُقبل التوبة في اللحظة الأخيرة كما في مثال فرعون الذي حارب سيدنا موسى عليه السلام.

10:84 Yunus

‎وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ يَا قَوْمِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ آمَنْتُمْ بِاللَّهِ فَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلُوا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُسْلِمِينَ

And Moses said, “O my people, if you have believed in Allah, then rely upon Him, if you should be Muslims (submit to Allah as the one and only God) .”

10:85 Yunus

‎فَقَالُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ

So they said, “Upon Allah do we rely. Our Lord, make us not [objects of] trial for the wrongdoing people

10:86 Yunus

‎وَنَجِّنَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

And save us by Your mercy from the disbelieving people.“

10:87 Yunus

‎وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَأَخِيهِ أَنْ تَبَوَّآ لِقَوْمِكُمَا بِمِصْرَ بُيُوتًا وَاجْعَلُوا بُيُوتَكُمْ قِبْلَةً وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

And We inspired to Moses and his brother, “Settle your people in Egypt in houses and make your houses [facing the] qiblah and establish prayer and give good tidings to the believers.”

10:88 Yunus

‎وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ آتَيْتَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَأَهُ زِينَةً وَأَمْوَالًا فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا رَبَّنَا لِيُضِلُّوا عَنْ سَبِيلِكَ ۖ رَبَّنَا اطْمِسْ عَلَىٰ أَمْوَالِهِمْ وَاشْدُدْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُوا حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا الْعَذَابَ الْأَلِيمَ

And Moses said, “Our Lord, indeed You have given Pharaoh and his establishment splendor and wealth in the worldly life, our Lord, that they may lead [men] astray from Your way. Our Lord, obliterate their wealth and harden their hearts so that they will not believe until they see the painful punishment.”

10:89 Yunus

‎قَالَ قَدْ أُجِيبَتْ دَعْوَتُكُمَا فَاسْتَقِيمَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعَانِّ سَبِيلَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

[Allah] said, “Your supplication has been answered.” So remain on a right course and follow not the way of those who do not know.“

10:90 Yunus

‎۞ وَجَاوَزْنَا بِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ الْبَحْرَ فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ وَجُنُودُهُ بَغْيًا وَعَدْوًا ۖ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَدْرَكَهُ الْغَرَقُ قَالَ آمَنْتُ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا الَّذِي آمَنَتْ بِهِ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ وَأَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ

And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, “I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the descendants of Israel believe, and I am of the Muslims.”

10:91 Yunus

‎آلْآنَ وَقَدْ عَصَيْتَ قَبْلُ وَكُنْتَ مِنَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ

Now? And you had disobeyed [Him] before and were of the corrupters?

10:92 Yunus

‎فَالْيَوْمَ نُنَجِّيكَ بِبَدَنِكَ لِتَكُونَ لِمَنْ خَلْفَكَ آيَةً ۚ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِنَ النَّاسِ عَنْ آيَاتِنَا لَغَافِلُونَ

So today We will save your body that you may be to those who succeed you a sign (because of the punishment of God to the pharaoh by making him drawn). And indeed, many among the people, of Our signs, are heedless

The Quran is the guidance for mankind and the prophet Mohamed peace be upon him was sent as an act of mercy from God, Allah, to the people.
االقرآن هو هدى للبشرية، وقد أُرسل النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم رحمة من الله إلى الناس.

6:125 Al-An’aam

فَمَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَهْدِيَهُ يَشْرَحْ صَدْرَهُ لِلْإِسْلَامِ ۖ وَمَنْ يُرِدْ أَنْ يُضِلَّهُ يَجْعَلْ صَدْرَهُ ضَيِّقًا حَرَجًا كَأَنَّمَا يَصَّعَّدُ فِي السَّمَاءِ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَجْعَلُ اللَّهُ الرِّجْسَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

So whoever Allah wants to guide - He expands his breast to [contain] Islam; and whoever He wants to misguide - He makes his breast tight and constricted as though he were climbing into the sky. Thus does Allah place defilement upon those who do not believe.

6:126 Al-An’aam

وَهَٰذَا صِرَاطُ رَبِّكَ مُسْتَقِيمًا ۗ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَذَّكَّرُونَ

And this is the path of your Lord, [leading] straight. We have detailed the verses for a people who remember.

6:127 Al-An’aam

۞ لَهُمْ دَارُ السَّلَامِ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ ۖ وَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

For them will be the Home of Peace with their Lord. And He will be their protecting friend because of what they used to do.

The prophets in the life of Barzakh (life between deaths d Judgement day) are still praying because of their different nature (that is the nature of their descendants as well so good deeds and bad deeds keep on being added to their books until Judgement day) as narrated in the following Hadiths.
إن الأنبياء في حياة البرزخ (الحياة بين الموت ويوم القيامة) يصلون بسبب طبيعتهم المختلفة (وهي طبيعة ذريتهم أيضًا، لذا يستمر اضافة الأعمال الصالحة والسيئة إلى كتبهم حتى يوم القيامة) كما ورد في الأحاديث التالية.

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “I passed by Moses during my night journey (the night of Isra’) near the red mound; he was praying in his grave.”

‎عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَرَرْتُ عَلَى مُوسَى لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِي عِنْدَ الْكَثِيبِ الْأَحْمَرِ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي فِي قَبْرِهِ

Sayyidina Anas (RA) narrated that the Prophet (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) said:Whoever invokes blessings on me at my grave, I hear him, and whoever invokes blessings on me from afar, I am informed about it.[Baihaqi]

‎أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بِشْرَانَ , أنبأ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الرَّزَّازُ , ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ , ثنا الْعَلاءُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْحَنَفِيُّ , ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ , عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ , عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : ” مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ عِنْدَ قَبْرِي سَمِعْتُهُ ، وَمَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ نَائِيًا مِنْهُ أُبْلِغْتُهُ ” ، أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا هُوَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ السُّدِّيُّ فِيمَا أَرَى وَفِيهِ نَظَرٌ , وَقَدْ مَضَى مَا يُؤَكِّدُهُ

The prophet Mohamed peace be upon him said, “I am alive and well (in his soft body unlike the dead) in my grave”.
قال رسول الله صلي الله عليه وسلم: “أنا حي طري في قبري”.

21:107 Al-Anbiyaa

‎وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ

And We have not sent you, [O Mohamed], except as a mercy to the worlds.
