BOLT12 Pay v0.3.1 – Contacts, Keysend and searchable Lightning history
BOLT12 Pay v0.3.1 just released.
This is probably the biggest feature release of the project so far.
The main new feature is Contacts.
I always wanted something on my own Lightning node that felt less like infrastructure and more like an actual usable wallet interface.
Not just:
paste invoice → pay
But:
“I know this person / wallet / service. Let me just select it.”
BOLT12 Pay now lets you store reusable payment destinations for contacts:
- Lightning Address
- BOLT12 Offer
- BIP353
- LNURL
- Nostr
- Lightning Node ID
A single contact can have multiple payment targets and one default destination.
The app also automatically matches transactions in Lightning Activity back to your contacts.
So instead of staring at pubkeys, hashes and payment artifacts, you can actually see who or what you paid.
Other major changes in v0.3.1:
- outgoing Keysend payments
- optional Keysend messages
- full transaction-history search
- search by contact, address, Node ID, memo, payment hash or payment method
- paginated Lightning history
- improved BOLT12 / BIP353 / Lightning Address / BOLT11 classification
- better preservation of payment metadata
- German and English UI improvements
- lots of smaller fixes
I tested the release on both Umbrel and StartOS.
The Umbrel and StartOS updates are now merged.

The project started as something I wanted for my own node and slowly turned into a real application.
