Reclaiming Digital Sovereignty: Introducing LibreFind

Introducing LibreFind

Does your phone work for you, or for Big Tech?

We all know we should use open-source software. We know we should de-Google our lives. But actually finding reliable, privacy-respecting alternatives to the apps we use every day is exhausting.

I’m a student developer, and I got tired of manually hunting for FOSS alternatives. So, I built LibreFind. 🔍 What is LibreFind?

LibreFind is an Android app that scans your installed applications and instantly suggests Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) alternatives.

It’s not just a list; it’s a dashboard for your digital freedom.

The “Sovereignty Score”

The core feature of the app is your Sovereignty Score.

The app analyzes how many proprietary apps you have vs. open-source ones. It gives you a score from 0 to 100. It gamifies the process of taking back your privacy.

Built in Public

I am building this entirely open-source.

No Ads.

No Tracking. (The app calculates everything locally on your device).

Community Driven. We use the OpenAlternative database to ensure recommendations are high-quality.

Help Me Build It

I am currently working on scaling the backend and fixing F-Droid builds. I’m looking for feedback, contributors, and beta testers from the Nostr community.

If you care about privacy, please check out the code or give it a star.
