The Parable of the Orange Piller

A bitcoin parable of how to find the path God wants for your life and how to produce good fruit in his name.
The Parable of the Orange Piller

This parable is a version of the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:3-9) and it is intended to convey the same message Jesus was teaching. The version in the Gosples was for one audiance, this version is simply my translation for the community of bitcoiners that I am a part of.

A bitcoiner went out to orange pill everyone he knew. And as he orange pilled some people laughed because they were stuck in fiat land and just wanted to trust the bankers to take care of their money. Other people got excited about bitcoin NgU but when the bear market came they sold everything at a loss and never returned to bitcoin. Other people thought they were too late to bitcoin and were captured by shitcoins, Defi and meaningless NFTs and the crypto insiders stripped away all their wealth. Other people stayed humble, stacked sats, started a bitcoin meetup and began orange pilling others, some taught a hundred people about bitcoin, some sixty some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear.

When anyone learns about bitcoin and is too entrenched in the fiat system they cannot understand it, they want to trust that the state and the bankers have their best interests in mind and want to continue handing all their wealth over to those who will profit off of their hard work. So too “when anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart… (Mt 13:19).”

For the people who immediately were excited about NgU but didn’t take the time to learn about bticoin, they will lack conviction and will go back to trading stocks or investing in passive index funds as soon as the bear market shakes them out. As for receiving the word of the kingdom of heaven “…this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. (Mt 13:20-21)”

For the people who got wrapped up in shitcoinery and degeneracy thinking that they would outperform bitcoin, they became the yield for the crypto insiders who dumped their bags on them as soon as the market was liquid enough. This is true also for people who hear the word of the gospels “this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. (Mt 13:22)”

For many of us, indeed many of you who are reading this, we took the time, and continue to take more time to really learn about bitcoin; this is a crucial component of strengthening our conviction. Even if we are not out there preaching the word of bitcoin, we live as true bitcoiners.

We are humble: no leverage, no shitcoins, no treasury companies; we know that we don’t know everything so we keep learning, we take responsibility, we keep our ears open to new developments, new threat vectors and new ways that the state comes up with to try and capture our hearts and minds. We stack sats: we work hard, we store our wealth in the hardest money every available to humanity, we think long term, plan for the future and know that our monetary capital cannot be inflated to zero.

This is what is meant by the seed that was sown on good soil; the person who hears of the kingdom of heaven and seeks to understand it. We have been sent the Holy Spirit who allows us to understand the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but we must be humble and we must put in the work to strengthen our conviction in Jesus Christ in order to live a life of love and faith.

Do not put your trust in others to teach you about the forgiveness of sins and how to attain an eternal life of love and peace any more than you trust other people in the bitcoin community to teach you about how to secure your wealth in bitcoin. For every bitcoin hero who has been slain there are ten times or a hundred times or a thousand times more religious leaders who will teach you one thing and it will not end up saving you in the end.

Seek more than one person’s opinion, talk with other members in your community, there are many experts who will likely make themselves available to you, seek more than on man’s advice and opinions on how to accept God into your life. You must also read the Gospels for yourself, and come up with your own understanding of what it means to love and have faith in God and in Jesus Christ. Spend time reflecting and asking questions to God directly, allow yourself the silence and focus to open your ears to the Lord and hear what knowledge he has for you.

The parable of the orange piller is not a call to preach the good news of bitcoin or the good news of the kingdom of heaven. It is a parable to show you that if you really want to have a low time preference, you should fall down the rabbit hole of the Gospels and Christianity the same way you fell down the rabbit hole of bitcoin. If you take 40 hours per week to listen to bitcoin podcasts, how many hours per week should you allocate to listening to the word of God? Get an audio version of the bible and listen to the New Testament. You can listen to the entire New Testament three times in the time it takes to get through the Atlas Shrugged audio book just once.

Bearing good fruit in God’s eyes is not that different than bearing good fruit in the bitcoin space. First seek the knowledge of the kingdom of heaven and develop your own conviction. Bearing good fruit could be a simple as allowing others to watch you live a good, faithful life or it could be as demanding as becoming a zealous advocate or preacher. If you open your ears to God, he will show you your path to faith and your path to bearing good fruit in his eyes. I cannot tell you, nor can any other man tell you the path that God wants you to walk; you have to ask him yourself.

Bitcoin doesn’t need you to become its advocate, people need you to be an advocate of bitcoin. When you orange pill someone, you aren’t making bitcoin stronger, you’re making other people stronger and you’re making your community stronger. This is true also for God. God doesn’t need advocates, people need advocates of God to shepard them on their journey of love and faith in the Lord.

He who has ears, let him hear.
