Fine China: Early 2000s Desert New Wave | Public Record

Way back in the year 2000, author Brian Smith of Phoenix New Times** wrote about the desert’s own new wave pop band Fine Chinain a feature called “Old Testament,” noting that in an age of nu-metal and emo, the band stood out an an anachronism, coming on like:
The Smiths, “blended with scraps of the Pet Shop Boys and Wild Swans and lots of New Order. Plenty of eddying analog synths, popcorn drum machines and undulating bass pulled with shimming songwriting.”**
On June 5, President Gator Records, in conjunction with Tooth and Nail Records, will reissue Fina China’s first two classic albums, 2000’sWhen The World Sings, and 2002’s You Make Me Hate Music, on limited edition 25th anniversary colored vinyl.
