Can a P2P Bitcoin market bootstrap itself from zero? We're trying it in Europe.

We’re building MostroEuropa, a European community around Mostro and P2P Bitcoin trading over Nostr + Lightning.

And we’re running into an interesting problem.

Starting a P2P market isn’t really about getting thousands of users. You need liquidity.

A buyer opening an empty order book leaves.
A seller doing the same leaves.
But a handful of reliable makers can suddenly make the whole thing useful.

So we’re trying to bootstrap MostroEuropa differently: not by chasing follower numbers, but by finding people willing to actually use the market, leave offers open and help build liquidity across European currencies.

EUR is the obvious starting point, but Europe is much bigger than EUR: GBP, CHF, PLN, CZK, HUF, RON and the Nordic currencies are interesting to us too.

I’m curious how other Bitcoin P2P communities have approached this.

If you were bootstrapping a new P2P market today, would you concentrate everything on one EUR market first, or accept lower liquidity while supporting several local European currencies from day one?
