The Goblin Trick

The Goblin Trick

New Episode: The Goblin Trick

This one teaches something most children never get explained to them directly: you have every right to protect yourself, but real strength is knowing how to use it.

Not reckless. Not passive. Measured. Give notice, show capability, let the other side choose. That distinction matters more than most adults realize — and children who understand it early carry themselves differently.

Why it matters: a child who knows the difference between force and presence, between reaction and strategy, is harder to manipulate and harder to bully. They stop being easy targets — not because they’re aggressive, but because they’re not confused.

The story: in the village of Oakenhart, a boy named Pip gets caught in a goblin trick, and the whole village ends up paying for it. Then a smooth-talking goblin arrives on a cart, asking everyone to hand over their staves for “safety.” One father sees through it. But seeing through something and knowing what to do about it are two very different things.

What happens that night to the homes that gave up their protection — you can probably guess. The lesson that follows is the one worth watching for.
