Taiwan Throttles Mobile Data in Wartime Communications Drill

Taiwan conducted a 30-minute test on August 10th, deliberately throttling mobile data speeds across seven central counties and cities. This exercise, part of the 2026 Urban Resilience initiative and Han Kuang 42 military drills, aimed to assess the operational capabilities of emergency services and civilian institutions under simulated communication constraints. Mobile data speeds were capped at 256 Kbps, involving telecommunications carriers, local governments, hospitals, police, and firefighters.
