This is not the first time footage related to criminal activity in Ireland has appeared on TikTok.
An Irish parliamentary committee has requested TikTok explain its content moderation practices. This action follows comments by the head of the Irish police force suggesting that young people might be deliberately filming themselves driving on the wrong side of motorways to gain social media attention. The concern was raised after a fatal crash on Aug. 16, where a car carrying five teenage boys was on the wrong side of the M9 motorway, leading to a collision that killed the boys and seriously injured three women and a child.
