US Sanctions Dozens of Companies Linked to Iran’s Aviation Sector
The new penalties are part of Operation Economic Outcast, a growing campaign to financially isolate Tehran.
The U.S. Treasury Department imposed new sanctions on Iran’s airline sector on September 8, targeting 27 Iranian airline operators for allegedly facilitating the transport of military personnel and weapons. Additionally, eight companies based in Turkey, the UAE, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, and the UK were sanctioned for allegedly circumventing existing sanctions to support Iran’s aviation industry. An individual from the UAE based in Egypt was also named in the sanctions.
