Federal Judge Delays Lockerbie Bombing Trial After More Evidence Disclosed
Among those who died at Lockerbie were 35 students from Syracuse University, who were returning home from a semester in Europe.
The trial of a former Libyan intelligence officer, Abu Agila Mohammad Mas’ud Kheir al-Marimi, accused in the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 has been postponed by a federal judge. Jury selection was scheduled to begin on August 26th but was delayed due to new evidence produced by defense attorneys. The bombing occurred on December 21, 1988, when a bomb exploded on a Pan-Am flight from London to New York, bringing the plane down over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing all 259 people on board and 11 on the ground.
