Conservative MP Chak Au to Resign From Role as City Councillor in Richmond, BC Conservative MP Chak Au has resigned as a municipal councillor in Richmond, B.C., effective February 1st, after the city council confirmed no byelection would be held. Au, first elected to council in 2011 and re-elected multiple times, also serves as the federal MP for Richmond Centre–Marpole. Mayor Malcolm Brodie thanked Au for his service and noted they look forward to continued work with him as an MP.
