Three U.S. Marines received upgraded valor awards on August 26 for their actions following a bomb blast at a security checkpoint at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Afghanistan. The ceremony took place on the fifth anniversary of the attack. Staff Sgt. Jonathan Eby and Lance Cpl. Jordan Houston were awarded Bronze Stars with “V” devices, while Cpl. Michael Gretzon received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with a “V” device.
