A New South Wales man has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in jail for reckless foreign interference after selling fabricated reports to individuals he believed were working for Beijing’s Ministry of State Security. Alexander Csergo, 58, compiled reports using open-source material but included false quotes attributed to interviews, including alleged remarks from former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. He received cash for these reports between November 2021 and March 2023.
