Sweet + Sour Meatballs

Tasty sweet home made meatballs with bountiful flavors infused with chicken bouillon, lemon and orange. This recipe was provided to me along with others from family members.

Ingredients

  • 1 green pepper cut in 1 inch pieces
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • ⅛ teaspon black pepper
  • 1 clove garlic
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 ½ teaspon salt
  • 2 tablespoon flour
  • ¾ cup salad oil
  • 1 cup chicken bouillon
  • 2 ½ tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 oranges sectioned

Directions

  1. Cook green pepper in boiling water for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. Season ground beef with 1 teaspoon salt. Shape into 16 meatballs.
  3. In a large bowl, combine eggs, flour, ½ teaspoon salt and pepper. Stir. Coat meatballs with batter.
  4. Brown meat balls in hot fat. Add ⅓ cup chicken bouillon. Cover. simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Stir remaining bouillon into mixture of sugar and cornstarch until smooth.
  6. Add green pepper, lemon and soy sauce. Pour over meatballs, gently boil while stirring constantly.
  7. About 2 minutes, add orange sections and cook until heated.
