Noviembre cerró con la buena noticia de que el Consejo Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural reconoció al Conjunto de Expresiones Culturales asociadas a la champeta como patrimonio del país, con la aprobación del Plan Especial de Salvaguardia (PES).

La champeta, Patrimonio Inmaterial The National Council of Cultural Heritage has recognized Champeta as a national heritage, approving a Special Safeguarding Plan (PES). This achievement is the result of years of collaborative work by various organizations, artists, researchers, and local entities, supported by the Mayor’s office. The PES outlines four key action lines to ensure the comprehensive safeguarding of Champeta, including cultural integration, material and symbolic universes, a dedicated festival, and memory preservation.

  • Champeta has been officially recognized as national heritage by the National Council of Cultural Heritage.
  • A Special Safeguarding Plan (PES) has been approved to protect and promote Champeta.
  • The recognition is credited to the sustained efforts of Fundación Roztro, the Champeta Heritage Safeguarding Committee, community organizations, artists, researchers, and local institutions.
  • The PES focuses on four fundamental lines of action: cultural integration, material/symbolic/community universes, the Champeta Afro-Caribbean Music Festival, and memory/knowledge transmission.
  • The recognition calls upon state institutions to ensure the protection and promotion of Champeta for future generations.
