[Tokyo Tech Translated] llm speed, indie dev focus
two tweets today, same anxiety. llm evolution accelerates, and the japanese indie dev community responds by narrowing focus. one developer picks models that fit his stack. another watches open-weight models close the gap on commercial giants. the thread is not about fomo. it is about survival through selection.
@solooo_dev, pick your stack
llm evolution is too fast, makes you anxious right? but you can’t follow everything, so for now i’m just deep-diving into models that fit my own tech stack. rather than just glancing at new methods, actually writing code and getting a feel for the quirks is the most interesting, and i feel like it becomes part of you.

@yui499509013892, open weight closing in
saw the news about Kimi K2.5 with 1 trillion parameters, performance approaching Opus at 1/8 the cost. got me thinking. open-weight models at this scale closing in on commercial models, the criteria for choosing which model to use might shift. more options is a tailwind for indie devs.

the japanese indie dev discourse this week is not about hype. it is about calibration. the field moves too fast to chase everything, so you pick a lane. open-weight models at 1 trillion parameters change the math for solo builders. the tailwind is real, but only if you know which model fits your stack. the rest is noise.
