From Digital Efficiency to Personal Sovereignty: My Unexpected Journey

I describe a life spent automating and optimizing within a system built on unstable fiat money, one that prioritizes urgency, cheap fixes and debt over lasting value, and ultimately found it hollow. A turning point came with Bitcoin: what began as speculative interest revealed deeper lessons about scarcity, time preference and personal responsibility. This led me to overhaul diet, data ownership and measures of success, embracing what they call a “Sovereign Stack” of Bitcoin savings, ancestral nutrition, decentralized infrastructure and focused attention. Far from rejecting modernity, this approach builds parallel, self-reliant systems, homeschool cooperatives, meat co-ops, privacy-first tools, and the author invites others to share their own transformations, believing real renewal happens “brick by sovereign brick,” driven by individuals rather than institutions.

Embracing a Bitcoin standard, they now measure value in sats and support BTC-only tools like Nostr, Fedimint, and the Lightning Network. The core question explored is: Is it worth lending your Bitcoin? The article breaks down four models: CeFi: Easy access to loans but with custody and counterparty risks (e.g., Celsius collapse). DeFi: Non-custodial and transparent but exposed to smart contract bugs and bridge exploits. P2P: Decentralized with direct lending, but relies on borrower trust and dispute resolution. Self-Custodial Vaults: Max control through multi-sig setups (e.g., Unchained), but requires technical skill and LTV monitoring. The author stresses lending should only occur with full understanding and control. Yield is tempting, but not worth sacrificing sovereignty or custody. The future, they believe, lies in BTC-only, self-sovereign financial systems that prioritize security and resilience over hype or high returns.
