"Private" gets promised a lot and explained rarely. In this post we spell out how privacy actually works at nostr.build: why free uploads are public on purpose while account media stays invisible until you share a link, and why we know almost nothing about you — no identity checks, an email only if you want one, no card numbers on our servers, and no subscription that renews itself. We also explain the part most services get backwards: what happens when your account ends. Your media doesn't sit on our servers forever — we remind you, hold everything for up to a year, bundle a final backup you can take anywhere, and only then delete. Your data works for you, not for an ad profile or an AI model. That's the whole idea.
