Drawing on Dunbar's cognitive limit of stable relationships (approximately 150) and the cryptographic principle of proof-of-work, we demonstrate how successful censorship-resistant projects naturally organize into nested trust layers: 5 core developers, approximately 12 contributing teams, and a global network of full node operators who enforce consensus. This layered architecture mirrors both human cognitive limits and technical security requirements, suggesting it is not merely accidental but structurally necessary for sustainable decentralized development.
