This orientation toward efficiency naturally results in two characteristics that combined describe much of the dysfunction of our time: scale and centralization.
Direct evidence from humans remains limited. Some historical records, including data from Korean Eunuchs in the pre-19th century Chosun Dynasty, suggest that castrated men lived about 18 percent longer than men who were not castrated. However, researchers caution that these records are debated and should be interpreted carefully.

So how do we as a society undue this false equivalence of connection? How do we get back to discussion, to reality and not AI fed anger?

Ibis, redibis, nunquam per bella peribis.
Meaning "you will go, you will return, never in war will you perish". The other possibility is the exact opposite in meaning:
Ibis, redibis nunquam, per bella peribis.
That is: "you will go, you will return never, in war you will perish".

The following is Hu Mingfu's 1916 draft, which was not perfectly homophonic, relying on an alternate reading for 似 sì and the character 設 shè to work:[2][9]
石室詩士史氏,嗜豕,失仕,誓食十獅。獅似嗜虱。史氏設寺,恃師勢,使施氏拾獅屍,俟食時,始識世事。史使侍逝適市,視施氏。試釋是事。
Shíshì shī shì shǐ shì, shì shǐ, shī shì, shì shí shí shī. Shī sì shì shī. Shǐ shì shè sì, shì shī shì, shǐ shī shì shí shī shī, shì shí shí, shǐ shí shìshì. Shǐ shǐ shì shì shì shì, shì shī shì. Shì shì shì shì.
This translates to:
Living in a stone den is a poet-scholar named Shi, addicted to pork. Having lost his official post, he vowed to eat 10 lions. The lions seemed inclined to interfere. Mr. Shi set up an office, and used his master's influence to dispatch a messenger named Shi to fetch lion corpses, awaiting his time to eat. Only upon eating did he begin to understand the ways of the world. Mr. Shi sent his envoy to the market to observe another man named Shi. Try to explain this matter.

What begins as a personal tool becomes collective infrastructure through natural multiplication. Each relay serves its operator first, yet in doing so, it archives the work of trusted peers, distributes their events to where they belong, and adds one more node to an interconnected canopy of curated data.
Relationships deserve to be first-class citizens in the data model rather than afterthoughts painstakingly extracted from inorganic structures. Nostr events should be stored as they actually exist: interconnected. Where they can form complex structures that reveal higher-order patterns like circles of trust and community boundaries.
It could be argued that mutes and reports are much less abundant that follows, and that the scarcity of data means that their integration would have only a marginal improvement in score results. But that logic ignores the fact that not all data points are created equal. A single, well targeted report can be worth many times more than an individual follow in terms of the value of the information.
Users must retain full, granular control over their trust stack. Alice should be able to select not only which trust metrics she wants to follow, but also which WoT SP she wants to calculate each one.

Nostr is not any specific set of relays, and relays are not meant to be public or free. Remember from the first paragraph above: Nostr is just a description of an interface.

The point is that "sovereignty" (what an unfortunate word) is meaningless if the person cannot leave the cage and do more interesting things in the world. In the same sense having a key is meaningless if you cannot publish messages to where the people you're trying to reach can read them.

The rivalry between the two remained strong if weary. Cope issued a final challenge before his death.[2] He had his skull donated to science so that his brain could be measured, hoping that his brain would be larger than that of his adversary; at the time, brain size was believed to be a measure of intelligence. Marsh never accepted the challenge, and Cope's skull is reportedly still preserved at the University of Pennsylvania.

“Before the sea, the earth, and the all-encompassing sky, there appeared in the entire universe a single aspect of nature, which they called chaos, a formless, confused mass, an inert weight in which the elements of things met in a discordant amalgamation without any relaxation. No Titan yet offered his light to the world, nor did Phoebus renew his bodies with the crescendo, nor was the earth, surrendered to its own weight, suspended in the air, spinning, nor had Amphritite extended her arms along the shores of the Earth. And just as there was land, sea, and air, so was the earth unstable, the sea incapable of using it, and the air devoid of light; no element retained its form, and one was an obstacle to the other, because in a single amalgam, cold and heat, humidity and drought, soft and hard substances, and heavy and light substances were opposed.”

Everything is what it is: liberty is liberty, not equality or fairness or justice or culture, or humanhappiness or a quiet conscience. If the liberty of myself or my class or nation depends on the miseryof a number of other human beings, the system which promotes this is unjust and immoral. But if Icurtail or lose my freedom in order to lessen the shame of such inequality, and do not therebymaterially increase the individual liberty of others, an absolute loss of liberty occurs. This may becompensated for by a gain in justice or in happiness or in peace, but the loss of freedom - 'social' or'economic' - is increased. Yet it remains true that the freedom of some must at times be curtailed tosecure the freedom of others. Upon what principle should this be done? If freedom is a sacred, untouchable value, there can be no such principle. One or other of these conflicting rules orprinciples must, at any rate in practice, yield: not always for reasons which can be clearly stated, letalone generalized into rules or universal maxims. Still, a practical compromise has to be found.

Our philosophers seem oddly unaware of these devastating effects of their activities. It maybe that, intoxicated by their magnificent achievements in more abstract realms, the best among themlook with disdain upon a field in which radical discoveries are less likely to be made, and talent forminute analysis is less likely to be rewarded.

Scriptural geologists were a heterogeneous group of writers in the early 19th century who claimed "the primacy of literalistic biblical exegesis" and a short young Earth time scale. Their views were marginalised and ignored by the scientific community of their time.[39][40][41] They generally lacked any background in geology and had little influence even in church circles.

These beds are light to medium gray andcharacteristically weather a very light gray. Many ofthe lower beds contain thick lenses of encrinite, some ofwhich are coarsely crystalline. Even though these arepure dolomite, the relict structure of the crinoid col-umnals is preserved. Some of the dolomite beds containwell-preserved silicified corals and brachiopods, suggest-ing that dolomitization followed silicification. Light-gray to gray-brown chert nodules and quartz- andcalcite-lined geodes are common, especially in the upperpart.

The true and durable path into and through experience involves being true to the actual givens of your lives. True to your own solitude, true to your own secret knowledge. Because oddly enough, it is that intimate, deeply personal knowledge that links us most vitally and keeps us most reliably connected to one another.

Every generation believes that it must battle unprecedented pressures of conformity; that it must fight harder than any previous generation to protect that secret knowledge from which our integrity of selfhood springs. Some of this belief stems from the habitual conceit of a culture blinded by its own presentism bias, ignorant of the past’s contextual analogues. But much of it in the century and a half since Nietzsche, and especially in the years since Heaney, is an accurate reflection of the conditions we have created and continually reinforce in our present informational ecosystem — a Pavlovian system of constant feedback, in which the easiest and commonest opinions are most readily rewarded, and dissenting voices are most readily punished by the unthinking mob.
