Decentralisation

Decentralisation

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

“Decentralisation.”

A word many have heard, yet few truly understand. A word that echoes daily on our timelines, yet often feels hollow, devoid of meaning.

I see countless Malaysians, particularly within the Muslim community, voicing frustration across social media, Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube, complaining about the censorship shaping our online conversations about politics. But have we stopped to consider this: these platforms are doing exactly what they were designed to do. There are no mistakes in their censorship; it is intentional, built into their very fabric.

So, I urge every Muslim who reads these humble words: do not plead with the CEOs of these social media empires. They will not hear us. They will not relinquish profits. They will not betray their masters.

Instead, leave their ships. Redirect our thoughts, our chants, our discussions, and our resistance to platforms that allow us to raise our flags freely, without suffocating censorship. Own your voice before we unknowingly or knowingly become slaves to algorithms and manipulative bait.

While some aspects of life cannot be decentralised, many can. Begin small. Be consistent. Plant a seed of hope. Over time, the roots will grow strong, and the trees of our efforts will bear the fruits of our resistance.

Even if you are not directly involved with movements like Sumud Fortilla that are currently happening, you can still take action. You can pray, donate, encourage from afar, but most importantly, you can hit at what matters: the money and the algorithm. By breaking these chains, we move closer to the freedom we seek.

Freedom is near. Yet the question remains: do we have the will to sacrifice the illusion of choice these platforms offer and seek better alternatives, dear fellow Malaysians?

For those who reach the end of my words, consider joining this decentralised platform, one of many: https://yakihonne.com/

This endorsement carries no financial gain for me, no referral links, quotas, or incentives. Only a plea for your support in a better, freer system.

Here, you will experience social media as it was meant to be: free from algorithms that fuel anxiety and depression. Free from silencing of our voices. If we truly desire change, we begin here, flood these spaces with our voices.

May these humble words bring me closer to the mercy and blessings of Allah Subḥānahu Wa Taʿālā, and may they, in some small way, benefit all who read them.

جَزَاكَ اللهُ خَيْرًا
