'Pure insanity': Alabama news anchor under fire for quoting Islamic terrorist during sign-off

An Alabama news anchor drew fierce backlash after she quoted the founder of a designated terrorist organization during her on-air sign-off.During a Thursday evening broadcast on Birmingham's ABC 33/40, WBMA-LD, Ashonti Ford, 38, told viewers, "Before we go, a quote from the founder of the Islamic Brotherhood: 'The quieter you become, the more you're able to hear.'"'The intent of our closing segment is always to end the newscast on a positive and thoughtful note.'Ford was quoting the late Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna.Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) reacted to the on-air moment, writing in a post on X, "Pure insanity. "The quote included that evening was not intended to convey any political or ideological message.""However, we understand it was perceived that way and on behalf of the station, I sincerely apologize to those who were offended," Cox added. He asserted that Ford had no role in selecting the quote and stated that the matter was addressed internally."Although this quote was read by Ashonti Ford, Ashonti had nothing to do with the selection," Cox continued. Bondi is OUT — and Trump already has a replacement in mind

President Donald Trump has officially fired Pam Bondi from her post as attorney general, and another administration official is expected to replace her.Several reports indicated that Bondi's firing was imminent after months of prolonged scrutiny, particularly over her mishandling of the Epstein files, which quickly became an Achilles' heel for the administration. An administration official told Blaze News that EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin is Trump's top pick to replace Bondi after the two met and discussed the role on Tuesday.'We love Pam.'Bondi is expected to become the second Cabinet official to leave the administration, following the departure of former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem."Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year," Trump announced in a Truth Social post. "Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900."RELATED: 'Catching you red-handed!' Massie gets sassy with Bondi over Epstein redactions Kevin Dietsch/Getty Images"We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General," Trump added. "Thank you for your attention to this matter!"Tensions over the attorney general's performance reached a fever pitch after Bondi apparently failed to adequately comply with the law, which Trump himself signed, requiring the release of all Epstein files, prompting calls for her removal.RELATED: Trump makes big appearance in Epstein files — just not the way Democrats may have hoped Win McNamee/Getty ImagesCritics noted that the release of these files was repeatedly delayed and that the files had been at times improperly redacted to protect potential co-conspirators while revealing the identity of alleged victims. In a heated House Oversight hearing back in February, Republican Rep. Thomas Massie (Ky.) ripped into Bondi over the Epstein files rollout, saying it was "literally the worst thing you could do to the survivors."During this hearing, Bondi also attempted to argue that the Epstein files were just another Democrat ploy to distract from Trump's accomplishments, infamously noting that the Dow Jones had surpassed 50,000 points.Like Blaze News? At its core, the abortion debate is very simple

For decades, the abortion debate has revolved around a single question: When does life begin? Scientists are asked to answer it. Legislators argue over it. Courts try to define it. Activists debate heartbeats, brain waves, viability, and development. But while this question is important, it is not the most important question. The real question is what gives human life value. The abortion debate will never be settled by science, politics, or emotional arguments. It is ultimately about where human value comes from.If human life has no intrinsic value, then it does not really matter when life begins. And if human life does have intrinsic value, then the moment a human life exists, it must be protected. The entire issue hinges not on biology, but on value.Biology shows life, not valueModern science has made one fact undeniable: from the moment of conception, a new human organism exists. This is basic embryology. A distinct human life begins at fertilization with its own DNA, its own development, and its own biological trajectory.Science is very good at describing life. It can measure heartbeats, detect brain activity, and observe development in remarkable detail. But science has a limitation: It can describe life, but it cannot assign value to it.A microscope cannot tell us that murder is wrong. DNA cannot tell us that humans have rights. A heartbeat cannot tell us that a life is sacred.Science describes what is. It cannot tell us what ought to be. Value, morality, and justice must come from somewhere else. The image of GodThe Bible answers the value question in the very first chapter. Genesis 1:27 says that God created man in His own image. This is one of the most important statements in all of Scripture, because it explains why human life has value at all.Human beings are not valuable because they are intelligent, strong, independent, or useful. Human beings are valuable because they are made in the image of God.This is not poetry. It is ontology — a statement about what man is. The image of God is the foundation of human dignity, human rights, and justice itself. Remove the image of God, and there is no objective reason why humans should be treated differently from animals. Rights become preferences, and justice becomes power. The image of God is what makes human life sacred.RELATED: We must resist a culture that redefines death as dignity Mininyx Doodle/Getty ImagesValue comes from what something isOne of the great errors of modern thinking is the idea that human value comes from ability or development. Our culture often assigns value based on intelligence, awareness, or productivity. But abilities exist on a spectrum. Some humans are more intelligent than others. Some are stronger than others. Some are more developed than others. If value comes from ability, then human rights belong only to the strong, the intelligent, and the capable. But justice requires something far more stable than ability. Justice requires that human value be tied to what a human is, not what a human can do.And what is man? Man is the creature made in the image of God.The image of God does not grow over time. It is not earned by development. It is not granted by government. It does not appear at birth or increase with intelligence. It is inherent to what man is from the moment he exists. If a human exists, the image of God existsOnce we understand that human value comes from the image of God, the abortion debate becomes much clearer. The question is no longer about heartbeats or brain waves or viability. It becomes much simpler: When does a human begin to exist? And the answer to that question is at conception. All things begin at their beginning. We do not say a tree begins halfway through its growth or that a river begins miles downstream. Things are defined by their beginning, not by later stages of development. From the moment a human exists, the image of God exists, human value exists, and justice demands protection for that human life. The issue is not development, location, or independence. The only issue is what the child is: a human being made in the image and likeness of God.RELATED: James Talarico found a verse — and twisted the meaning Danielle Villasana/Getty ImagesThe debate is about valueThis is why the abortion debate will never be settled by science, politics, or emotional arguments. It is ultimately about where human value comes from.If value comes from society, then society can decide who has value and who does not. If value comes from ability, then the strong will always rule over the weak. If value comes from preference, then power decides everything. But if value comes from God, then every human life — born or unborn, strong or weak, wanted or unwanted — has equal worth because every human bears the image of the Creator.Once we understand that human value comes from the image of God, the conclusion becomes unavoidable. To destroy that life is not merely to end a biological process — it is to destroy a human being who reflects the Creator Himself. The doctrine of the imago Dei does not allow for partial justice, developmental value, or conditional protection. The image of God demands that every human life be treated with equal justice from the moment that life begins.Because human value does not come from development, ability, or location. Human value comes from God.

The left is using tax dollars to indoctrinate your daughters

What if the radical feminism shaping your daughter’s identity isn't coming from culture but from a school “mental health” session? My organization, Courage Is a Habit, investigated and unveiled that the American School Counselor Association is promoting Lean In Girls, a program developed by the Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation, as a tier 2 intervention for girls as young as 11. They are grooming the next generation of activists to carry out a political agenda. We released a bombshell report showing that this program is marketed as confidence-building, but it introduces controversial ideas about identity, power, and gender under the umbrella of mental health, often in settings where parents may have limited visibility. Its connection to radical feminist Sheryl Sandberg, who has recently re-entered the cultural spotlight, raises broader questions about how these ideas are reaching students. At a minimum, this debate points to a simple question: When schools say “mental health,” what are children actually being taught — and do parents know? For decades, the school counselor’s office served as a sanctuary for student wellness and academic guidance. However, the ASCA continues peddling radical feminist curriculum into the lives of young girls in their most formative years. Silencing dissentSheryl Sandberg, the architect of this curriculum, brings a troubling record from her time as Meta’s chief operating officer. Under her leadership, the platform weaponized "fact-checking" systems to silence conservative voices and fuel and create a stifling, hypersensitive environment. This era of aggressive content moderation suppressed COVID skepticism and gender-critical opinions while hiding the Hunter Biden laptop story. Now that same culture, which Mark Zuckerberg later admitted "neutered" his company, has been repackaged as a mental health tool for young girls. The erasure of biological realityThe most alarming aspect of Lean In Girls is its assault on the definition of a "girl." The program openly invites biological males, described as "nonbinary teens who identify with the girlhood experience," to participate in these sessions.Facilitators are directed to use "gender-neutral language," avoiding the words "girls" or "guys" in favor of "folks" or "leaders." They are coached to swap "they/them" pronouns into scenarios and apologize if they make a mistake with a student's preferred name or pronouns. All of this is funded by taxpayer-backed school resources.Beyond gender ideology, the curriculum utilizes the divisive tactics of critical race theory. Facilitators are directed to rank themselves and their students on an intersectional "hierarchy of oppression." This exercise divides children by race, sexuality, and perceived victim status. Instead of teaching girls to lead with character, it teaches them to view every interaction through the lens of power and systemic bias.RELATED: Why do state schools bankroll people who despise the state? ROBYN BECK/AFP/Getty ImagesBypassing the parentsASCA is positioning this program as a tier 2 intervention for students flagged as needing targeted behavioral or mental health support. This allows schools to target students for radicalization, often without explicit parental notification, under the fraudulent banner of wellness.By framing activism as mental health support, school districts are attempting to bypass parental rights protections affirmed in cases like Mahmoud v. Taylor. They are grooming the next generation of activists to carry out a political agenda, similar to the radical figures Sandberg’s previous platforms once protected from criticism.A call to actionThe "Lean In" philosophy has moved from the corporate boardroom to the middle school hallway, bringing the full weight of DEI compliance and radical gender ideology with it. Parents must realize that many school counselors have become activists in residence. It is time to demand transparency. Parents should take an active role in understanding what their children are being exposed to in school. Start by asking whether programs like Lean In Girls are being used and request access to the full curriculum. It’s also important to insist on clear, written confirmation that parental consent will be obtained before any child is placed in these types of groups. And if concerns remain, parents have the option to opt out, ensuring their daughters are not placed in programs that conflict with their values or understanding of identity. Our daughters deserve a future built on truth and genuine confidence, not a life of miserable marches, constant screaming, and insufferable activism.

15-month-old child died from ingesting meth through mother's breast milk, police say

A mother and father of a 15-month-old child who died have been arrested after an investigation determined the child died from ingesting methamphetamine.Pennsylvania state police responded to a call on Feb. 12, 2025, at the Mt. Pleasant Township residence of 34-year-old Michael Thomas Blaesser and 31-year-old Ashley Amber Makarsky.Another child at the home, who was 3 years old, tested positive for fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.Police found the unresponsive boy and transported him to the Independence Health Frick Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The living conditions at the residence were described as "beyond deplorable" by officers."There was no food in the house that we saw that was edible," Trooper Steve Limani said. "The temperatures were below freezing within the home. The only heat source for the house was a kerosene heater that emitted fumes that you could strongly smell ... along with fecal matter and garbage."There was no running water or electricity, the roof had holes in it, and the temperature inside was 28 degrees. A mattress appeared to have mold growing on it.Limani says the boy was likely exposed to methamphetamine through drinking the mother's toxic breast milk.An investigation discovered that the parents had a history of drug abuse and had been involved in two other cases where children where exposed to drug-laced breast milk, according to Limani. The three alleged incidents provided enough evidence for the parents to be charged with third-degree murder. They may also be charged with involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment.Another child at the home, who was 3 years old, tested positive for fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine, according to police.RELATED: Arizona mother charged with child abuse after her 2-year-old daughter tests positive for fentanyl and methamphetamine "There is a pattern set forth about where a person should know and understand the consequences of taking illicit substances and then using your body to ... sustain life for your child — you're feeding it drugs and potentially going to kill your child," Limani said. "And that's what took place."The pair were each given a $1 million bond. An attorney for Makarsky said the mother is "gutted" by the accusations and said it was the first time she'd gotten into trouble as far as the attorney knew.A TribLIVE report said that court papers did not reference breast milk as the reason the child died."Those were the results of their horrific neglect and absolute disregard for trying to take care of a [child] that relied solely on these two individuals," Limani added.Like Blaze News? Trump announces Iran war is 'nearing completion'

President Donald Trump has announced that Operation Epic Fury is "nearing completion" as the military operation against Iran approaches its fifth week. During his address to the nation Wednesday night, Trump recapped the United States' progress in the region, aiming to reassure Americans that the conflict would soon draw to a close. Notably, Trump did not indicate whether the United States would put boots on the ground in the region. 'The hard part is done.'Trump reiterated the objectives of the operation, including destroying Iran's air force and navy, debilitating its missile capabilities, and preventing the country from developing nuclear weapons. "Tonight, I'm pleased to say that these core strategic objectives are nearing completion," Trump said. "As we celebrate this progress, we think especially of the 13 American warriors who have laid down their lives in this fight to prevent our children from ever having to face a nuclear Iran." RELATED: Trump says Iran asked for a ceasefire — but the US has one major condition Trump also echoed the updates he provided throughout the week, urging European allies burdened by the oil crisis to buy American oil and to reopen the Strait of Hormuz themselves. "The hard part is done, so it should be easy," Trump said. "And in any event, when this conflict is over, the strait will open up naturally." Although it is still unclear who in Iran the United States is negotiating with and the status of those negotiations, Trump said that he is on track to "get rid of a cancer that has long simmered." "It's known as the nuclear Iran," Trump said. "And they didn't know what was coming. They never imagined it." Like Blaze News? Former 'human rights' chief allegedly STOLE from George Floyd and homeless children charities in San Francisco

A woman tasked with the mission to defend human rights in San Francisco was stealing funds from a nonprofit for her personal enrichment, according to prosecutors.Sheryl Davis. 57, was charged with 17 felony counts that included conflict of interest in a government contract, perjury, and misappropriating public funds.Prosecutors said she misappropriated funds from a charity meant to benefit homeless children that received $3.5 million of city funds. Authorities were tipped off by a whistleblower to Davis' alleged illegal activities, according to a press release from San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. Davis was in charge of tens of millions of taxpayer dollars from the Dream Keeper Initiative but allegedly funneled the cash to companies where she could personally benefit. The program was meant to invest in the African-American community after the rioting over the death of George Floyd.Prosecutors said she misappropriated funds from a charity meant to benefit homeless children that received $3.5 million of city funds. The organization paid Davis' son about $140,000, which was "deposited into a bank account Ms. Davis jointly owned and controlled."Other numerous schemes were outlined by prosecutors in which Davis and 65-year-old James Spingola, a co-conspirator who ran a San Francisco nonprofit, allegedly misappropriated funds for their own benefit. Spingola was charged with four felony counts of aiding and abetting Davis' conflict of interest in four contracts with the city. Both Davis and Spingola were arrested on Monday and were booked into the San Francisco County Jail and given a $50,000 bond each. Davis was fired in 2024 after it was discovered that she was living with Spingola without disclosing the relationship with the grant recipient. She was also accused of misusing funds at that time. The job paid $350,000 a year when she was fired. RELATED: BLM activist named 'Bostonian of the Year' ordered to repay money she embezzled from taxpayers and nonprofit "These are not routine charges," Jenkins said. "But I want to be clear: These are allegations that will ultimately be proven or disproven in court." Prosecutors say Davis may face additional charges. The investigation into her alleged misconduct involved more than 50 search warrants and spanned over 18 months. "We have charged what we believe we had the evidence to prove," Jenkins added. Davis posted an odd message after the arrest on her social media account. "Where are my encouraging and supportive sisters?" she asked. Her attorney denied that she was guilty of any felonious conduct. Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Armed Male Enters Florida Home, Refuses to Leave, Threatens Homeowner, Who Then Fires His Own Weapon

An armed male recently entered a Florida home and refused to leave — and then threatened the homeowner while advancing toward him, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office said. But the homeowner had a gun on hand — and used it. 'Stand your ground, baby!' The sheriff's office in a Tuesday news release said deputies responded to reports of shots fired in the 5400 block of Touraine Drive around 9:40 p.m. Feb. 6 and discovered a male suffering from a gunshot wound at the scene. The incident occurred in Tallahassee. Detectives determined the male in question entered the home uninvited and refused to leave after the homeowner's repeated requests, officials said. What's more, the male then threatened the homeowner with a weapon while advancing toward him, officials said. With that, the homeowner used a semiautomatic handgun to fire a single shot at the male, which struck him, officials said. The male was taken to a hospital in critical condition, officials said. After an investigation, deputies identified and arrested 42-year-old Scott Scruggs on charges of burglary of a structure while armed and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, officials said. RELATED: Male breaks window of home after midnight. Homeowner warns him he has a gun — then uses it when intruder keeps advancing. Scott Scruggs. Image source: Leon County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office Scruggs remained hospitalized following the incident and was taken into custody upon his release from the hospital, officials said, adding that Scruggs is now behind bars in the Leon County Detention Facility. Jail records indicate there is no release date assigned to Scruggs; there is no bond for his burglary charge; his bond for his aggravated assault charge is $2,500. Jail records also note Scruggs has a long criminal history dating back to 2008 filled with charges that include battery, trespassing, criminal mischief, burglary, resisting arrest, theft, reckless driving, and drug possession. Commenters under the sheriff's office Facebook post about the incident seemed to approve of the homeowner's actions: 'Stand your ground, baby!' one commenter declared. Trump makes history at SCOTUS birthright citizenship hearing

President Donald Trump has made history at a Supreme Court hearing on Wednesday about his executive order to end birthright citizenship, reports say.On Wednesday morning, Fox News reported that Trump arrived at the Supreme Court and that Attorney General Pam Bondi was expected to join him. With this attendance, Trump has become the first sitting president to witness Supreme Court oral arguments.'One of the many Great Scams of our time!'Trump’s Executive Order 14160, signed on Inauguration Day, could impact roughly 225,000 individuals born each year. The executive action states that “citizenship does not automatically extend to persons born in the United States: (1) when that person’s mother was unlawfully present in the United States and the father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth, or (2) when that person’s mother’s presence in the United States at the time of said person’s birth was lawful but temporary … and the father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth.”Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday that he plans to attend the Supreme Court hearing.“Because I have listened to this argument for so long,” Trump stated. He argued that birthright citizenship was not intended for “Chinese billionaires, or billionaires from other countries, who all of a sudden have 75 children … becoming American citizens.”RELATED: SCOTUS gives Trump a unanimous victory on persecution claims in asylum cases Al Drago/Getty Images“This was about slaves,” Trump continued, adding that birthright citizenship was implemented at the end of the Civil War. “The reason was, it had to do with the babies of slaves and the protection of the babies of slaves. It didn’t have to do with the protection of multimillionaires and billionaires wanting to have their children get an American citizenship,” he said. “It is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen.”When asked about the Supreme Court justices, Trump responded, “I love a few of them. Why nationwide No Kings protests literally don't matter: ‘Extremely bleak for them’

No Kings protests have been popping up all over the country in protest of President Trump and the United States’ involvement in the Iran war, and of course, the mainstream media has covered these protesters as if they’re a real force to be reckoned with. However, BlazeTV host John Doyle attended one of the protests in Dallas and explains that the reality on the ground tells a much different story. “If you Google it, ‘No Kings 2026,’ there are all of these leftist outlets — be those local, national, even on CNN, MSNBC, all the usual suspects — trying to just put all of this out there, put the imagery out there, to let people know that this is definitely a thing that is very real and very threatening and certainly happening,” Doyle says on “The John Doyle Show.” “The people who actually mobilize and show up to these Democrat quote-unquote ‘protests,’ these are the revolutionary class. This is an inherently sort of kinetic group of people, which is to say a people who are motivated almost chiefly by resentment against just normal American patriots,” he continues. Doyle explains that these protesters also “always need to be out on the streets causing problems, feeling as though they are pushing back against some force.” “It is this kind of 'Handmaid’s Tale' LARP for them. They really do enjoy the interaction with law enforcement, feeling as though they’re being freaking persecuted,” he says. And the visuals Doyle caught at the protest in Dallas only prove his point. “It’s extremely, extremely bleak for them,” he says, before showing a picture of one of the protesters. “It was this extremely obese creature, and it was occupying a mobility scooter, like how you see at Walmart. And there was a sign mounted on the mobility scooter … that said ‘#FreakingNoKings,’” Doyle recalls. “And then you have old people and then foreign people and then foreign old people, and everybody’s dying. It’s like, what? I’m not intimidated. I’m not even having fun. I just feel bad. I used to go in there and felt like I was in a lion’s den, you know? Do a little sparring with the people who want me killed,” he continues. “I had a smile on my face, a pep in my step. You’ve all seen it. I just felt bad,” he says. Want more from John Doyle? Kid Rock Catches Heat for Viral Apache Helicopter Social Media Video — Army Launches Investigation

Famed rock star and longtime Trump supporter Kid Rock has drawn some scrutiny over a video he posted on social media this weekend. While many social media users loved the video, the U.S. Army has nonetheless launched an investigation into the incident. On Saturday, Rock posted a video from what appears to be the pool of his Tennessee mansion, nicknamed the "Southern White House." In the video, Rock can be seen standing at the pool's edge and saluting apparent servicemen aboard a helicopter hovering for a few seconds right in front of him.'My buddy's the commander in chief.'The helicopter hovers in the air almost level to the camera, which is stationed behind Rock."This is a level of respect that s**t for brains Governor of California will never know. God Bless America and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend her," Rock captioned the video.RELATED: Kid Rock's TPUSA halftime destroyed the NFL's Bad Bunny agenda WOJTEK RADWANSKI/AFP/Getty ImagesMany commenters on the Instagram post showed their love for the stunt and for Rock's patriotism. Others, however, have taken issue with the flyover, including the U.S. Army."Fort Campbell leadership is aware of a video circulating on social media depicting AH-64 Apache helicopters operating in the vicinity of a private residence associated with Mr. Robert Ritchie (also known as 'Kid Rock'). The command has initiated an investigation to review the circumstances surrounding this activity," Maj. Jonathon Bless, 101st Airborne Division public affairs officer, told Fox News in a statement.Rock, on the other hand, saw no issue with those in the helicopter having a little bit of fun. In an interview with WKRN, Rock laughed, "I think they're going to be all right. My buddy's the commander in chief. I mean, what are they looking into? They stopped for, I don't know, seconds? A minute? Maybe they were here three to four minutes." Fox News reported that Apache helicopters also flew over a nearby No Kings protest in downtown Nashville earlier in the day. "If you're flipping the military off, you're on the wrong side of things man," Rock said of the protesters, who, by his telling, did not appreciate the military presence nearly as much as he did.The Associated Press obtained a written statement from the Army: “Army aviators must adhere to strict safety standards, professionalism, and established flight regulations. An administrative review is underway to assess the mission and verify compliance with regulations and airspace requirements. Appropriate action will be taken if any violations are found."Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

The Chicago Bulls have dumped 24-year-old guard Jaden Ivey after he made comments in support of God and against Pride Month.Ivey's stint with the Bulls is over after just four games, following a trade from the Detroit Pistons in early February.'God did not make a man to be with a man.'The Bulls waived Ivey on Monday — which means his contract can be picked up by another team — after the guard criticized gay pride and the NBA on his Instagram page."The world can proclaim LGBTQ, they proclaim Pride Month, and the NBA, they proclaim it," Ivey said from inside a vehicle."God did not make a man to be with a man. God did not make a girl to be with a girl. God made a man for the purpose of procreation to have another child," Ivey added. It did not take long for the Bulls to catch wind of the young player's comments, and the organization announced at 6 p.m. that he was being let go."The Chicago Bulls announced today that the team has waived guard Jaden Ivey due to conduct detrimental to the team," the Bulls said in a statement shared to social media. Before their game on Monday evening, Bulls head coach Billy Donovan told the media that the organization expects certain standards to be upheld.RELATED: 'I'm on fire!' Curtis Sliwa cozies up to Mamdani in cutesy cat comedy sketch — and Republicans are calling him a traitor

Former New York City mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa is getting lambasted by Republicans and other critics over a cutesy video he made with socialist NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani.Sliwa hammered away at Mamdani during debates before the election, but since the socialist defeated him for the mayor's office, Sliwa appears to have warmed up to the leftist.'You can tell when people are true to the party, and I thought it was reprehensible.'In the video produced for the Inner Circle show, Sliwa pretends to be a doctor and gives the mayor an allergy shot so he can live with a cat in the official mayor's residence. The event raises money for charity."I thought it was great because it was promoting rescuing animals," Sliwa explained to the New York Post.Others didn't think it was so great."Betrayed his family. Betrayed the Republican Party. Betrayed everyone," said a GOP operative to the Post under the condition of anonymity. The Post reported that others said they wanted their political contributions to his campaign returned after seeing the video."When you don't have a bed to sleep in, you have to find anyone who will take you," replied former New York Gov. David Paterson, a Democrat. "You can tell when people are true to the party, and I thought it was reprehensible."Sliwa fired back at the Republicans criticizing him by pointing out they had not criticized President Donald Trump for cozying up to Mamdani several times."If people are upset at that, why aren’t you mad at the president, Donald Trump, who has welcomed him into the White House twice?" he said.He also claimed that the sketch was the first time he had spoken to Mamdani since the election.Sliwa is planning to run for the Republican nomination for the mayor's office again in 2029.RELATED: Mamdani made big promises to cut the budget — here's the embarrassing result so far Paterson was still angry at Sliwa for staying in the election and possibly playing spoiler for former Gov. Andrew Cuomo. He went on to mock Sliwa's performance in the mayoral election by comparing it to that of the New York Jets."[Curtis] was never going to win," Paterson said. "He got 7 percentage points, seven — even the Jets get seven when they play."Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Swalwell lashes out at Trump after FBI reportedly looks to release files on his alleged Chinese spy scandal

Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California accused President Donald Trump of trying to unfairly derail his gubernatorial campaign over new developments in his Chinese spy scandal.Swalwell's 2014 re-election campaign had gotten fundraising help from a woman named Christine Fang, who is believed to have had ties with Chinese intelligence. She also helped place an intern in his office.'The reason Trump is so desperately trying to stop me is not because I’m running for Governor of California, but because now I’m the favorite.' Swalwell has previously denied any wrongdoing and accused Republicans of exaggerating the scandal in order to damage his political career. On Saturday, both the Washington Post and the New York Times reported that Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel was seeking to release files related to the Fang investigation.Swalwell responded to the report by reiterating his accusations. "Through great reporting, we now know the outrageous ends the White House will go to target political opponents. As was Trump’s mortgage case against me, this decade-old story is, of course, nonsense," Swalwell responded, referring to mortgage fraud accusations that had been dismissed."The reason Trump is so desperately trying to stop me is not because I’m running for governor of California, but because now I’m the favorite," he added. "What Trump wants the most is to have a Western White House. An enabler on the opposite coast. A lot of people have bent the knee to this administration. But I will not. And neither will the people of California.”A spokesperson for the FBI denied any political motivation in their file releases."This FBI, being the most transparent in history, prepares documents for numerous different reasons, including for release to different agencies and departments to further review investigations that may have been opened under previous administrations," the spokesperson told the Washington Post.RELATED: Eric Swalwell lawsuit against Trump administration meets embarrassing end Recent polling indicates that Swalwell has pulled ahead of the other Democratic gubernatorial candidates but is still behind two Republican candidates.Fang has also been connected to other California Democrats, including Rep. Ro Khanna, Judy Chu, and former Rep. Mike Honda.Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Two liberal states probed by Trump's DOJ over reports of transgender assaults in women's prisons

The Department of Justice is investigating whether some states are violating women's constitutional rights by sending transgender-identifying males to women's prisons. The DOJ said in a press release that prisons in California and Maine are under investigation for possible constitutional violations.'The Civil Rights Division will not allow women incarcerated in jails or prisons to be subject to unconstitutional risks of harm from male inmates.' "Keeping men out of women’s prisons is not only common sense — it’s a matter of safety and constitutional rights," said Attorney General Pam Bondi in a statement in the release. "The Trump administration will not stand by if governors are facilitating the abuse of biological women under the guise of inclusion."The release said that there had been reports of "sexual assaults, rape, voyeurism, and a pervasive climate of sexual intimidation" in the women's prison in San Bernardino County in California. The DOJ said California law allowed male prisoners with intact genitals to request being sent to women's prison based on their self-identification as transgender.Female prisoners in Maine also complained of assaults and harassment from a male who was being housed with them after identifying as transgender."Under my leadership, the Civil Rights Division will not allow women incarcerated in jails or prisons to be subject to unconstitutional risks of harm from male inmates," said Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon."These investigations will uncover whether the dangerous national trend of housing men in women’s prisons has resulted in violations of women’s constitutional rights," she added.A spokesperson for the state legislator who authored the law allowing transgender-identifying males into women's prisons downplayed the possibility of assaults and said the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations had denied 47 times as many requests as it had approved as of last May."The main driver of sexual abuse in prison" is "assault by prison staff," said spokesperson Erik Mebust to the San Francisco Chronicle in comments from May.RELATED: Transgender activist indicted on charges of theft — from anti-Trump 'Women's March' Los Angeles mayoral candidate Tish Hyman, a black lesbian and Kamala Harris voter, became a national figure last November after her membership at Gold's Gym was canceled. Hyman went viral after filming her objection to a biological male using the women’s locker room, citing negative and threatening encounters with the individual. This highly publicized experience led her to campaign for mayor, and she said in an email statement to Blaze News that she takes the issue very seriously. "Women in custody are among the most vulnerable populations in our society, and they deserve dignity, safety, and protection without compromise. Policies that place biological men in women’s prisons raise legitimate concerns around privacy, safety, and the rights of female inmates, and those concerns should not be dismissed or minimized," she wrote. "I will absolutely use my platform both politically and publicly to advocate for policies that prioritize the safety and well being of women in custody," Hyman added. "That includes pushing for clear, enforceable standards that protect women’s spaces, ensure proper oversight, and hold institutions accountable when those standards are not met." California Coalition for Women Prisoners spokeswoman Courtney Hanson accused the Trump administration of a "national attack" in order to "erase and harm transgender people, especially transgender women in prison." 'It was wrong': Michael Jordan reveals insanely competitive reason for suing NASCAR

Legendary basketball player Michael Jordan says he went into his lawsuit against NASCAR with the same mentality that won him six NBA championships. While much of the terms of his settlement with the organization are not known, Jordan made one thing clear in a recent interview; he wasn't going to back down.'I was all in. I was going to win.'As owner of 23XI racing team, Jordan sued NASCAR in October 2024, claiming the organization used unfair practices to decide which teams can participate. The parties have since agreed to a settlement, with Jordan revealing in a recent interview that he felt he had to take up the legal battle in order to protect the future of the sport for its racing teams and drivers.Having always been a fan of NASCAR, Jordan said that when he was focused on basketball, he didn't quite grasp its inner workings, but when he got into the series, he started to "see how things [were] operating.""It was lopsided. It was wrong. The sport was not set up for success long-term for the individuals that's involved in the sport," Jordan told "CBS Sunday Morning."The basketball hall of famer pointed to an unequal system between NASCAR ownership and the racing teams."Now, up top, yeah, you know, they were making a good living," he told host Gayle King.Jordan said his motivation to make a lasting impression on the sport pushed him to go through with the lawsuit, compelling him to make his mark whether he won or lost."I was nervous. Any courtroom makes me nervous 'cause that's not where I want to be, really. 100%," he continued. "But I was all in. I was going to win."RELATED: Michael Jordan shocks NASCAR by doing something no one has done in 77 years The 63-year-old Jordan said it was never his intention to "attack NASCAR," but at the same time, he still went in to the lawsuit with a fighter's mentality."This fight was needed. And if I got kicked out, at least I made people aware that change needs to happen in this sport. So I went in with the idea that even if I lost, I won."Jordan followed up the December 2025 settlement by going on a tear to start the 2026 season; driver Tyler Reddick won the first three races of the season for 23XI racing team, something no team had ever done in the previous 77 years of NASCAR.RELATED: Lindsey Graham GOP challenger makes shocking promise to change NASCAR: 'South Carolina will rise again' Photo by Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images During his recent interview, Jordan spoke on his unending competitive spirit, and he said that he uses NASCAR to compensate for a "huge piece" of him that still wishes he could play basketball."[It's] not the same as me playing in Chicago ... but it's something that I think keeps me alive," Jordan said, comparing his current temperament to his playing days."That urge, the dream, that I wish I can still pick up a basketball. ...Yeah, I would definitely love to do that."Like Blaze News?
