Extraction is rational

Even the sharpest critics of extraction stop at monopoly power and regulatory capture. They ask how platforms become extractive, but not why extraction becomes the rational choice across every industry, every decade. Break up a monopoly and you get smaller companies running the same playbook. "This time is different" is the oldest delusion in financial history.

Product first, partnerships second

What works for products in Bitcoin works for partnerships: win on the basics first. Make Bitcoin's advantages the bonus, not the trade-off. Partners won't sacrifice reliability, product design, or economics for Bitcoin's native properties. They'll choose Bitcoin when it comes with better products, not instead of better products.

Revenue isn't a sales problem

You can't close deals if buyers can't explain what you do. You can't position if you don't know who actually buys. The sequence: market clarity, positioning, sales motion. Break a link upstream and everything downstream fails.

Soldiers, scouts, and the limits of persuasion

At any given time, most people aren't ready to hear what you're saying. Not because they're stupid—because nothing in their world has broken yet. They're not evaluating alternatives because they don't need alternatives. People start looking when something in their world shifts. For Bitcoin, that shift is usually painful.

Sovereignty without sacrifice

We can't win by being better at one thing (self-sovereignty) while being worse at everything else (speed, cost, UX, features). We have to be better at everything—or at minimum, comparable on the basics while being superior on self-sovereignty. The best protocol in the world accomplishes nothing if nobody uses it. We have to win commercially to win ideologically.

Why Bitcoin sales is different from SaaS

The company that helps prospects navigate internal politics and stakeholder complexity wins the deal. The one that just explains why Bitcoin is technically superior doesn't. Those wins accumulate into expertise. They reveal which objections actually matter and which are smoke screens. They expose what moves deals forward versus what sounds good in theory.

rough consensus all the way down

Since learning about it in high school I've always been disturbed by the observer effect revealed by the famous double slit experiment in which the behavior of particles change based on whether or not you are looking at them as they move. It occurred to me one day that this quirk of nature in which a wave distribution collapses into finite states is analogous to a chain split and re-org in bitcoin in which a large amount of hashrate condenses competing chain tips into one canonical state (see chapter V). What if this process is occurring at every scale of reality from photons on up to humans and civilizations? And what would it mean if reality is literally just math? Could a conscious state be reduced to a number, or said differently are numbers themselves conscious? I apologize in advance for my handwaving and stoner-adjacent musings but the thoughts contained herein actually do bring me great comfort and satisfaction and perhaps it will do the same for you. if nothing else it's just fun to think about. I present here one retarded man's ham fisted attempt at understanding reality.

Brown Butter Brownie Cookies

It's the browned butter that sets these cookies apart but the question remains: Are they brownies or are they cookies? I don't care because these things are delicious. Just be aware, eating more than one can be a daunting endeavor.

Cypherpunks and the Long Road to Bitcoin

Cypherpunks foresaw the failings of fiat money and centralized finance, experimenting with cryptography and digital cash to secure financial freedom. Their decades of innovation and debate paved the way for Bitcoin: a decentralized, mathematically scarce, trustless system that restores individual sovereignty and challenges traditional finance.

What Is Bitcoin — and Why Was It Created?

Bitcoin is a revolutionary digital money created over fifteen years ago to provide a fair, transparent, and decentralized financial system. Born from decades of cypherpunk research and economic thought, Bitcoin solves fundamental problems in money, including double spending, censorship, and inflation. It allows anyone to control their wealth without intermediaries, combining cryptography, peer-to-peer networking, proof of work, and a fixed supply to create a secure, transparent, and globally accessible financial network. From its genesis block in 2009 to milestones like Pizza Day, SegWit, Lightning Network, corporate adoption, and nation-state recognition, Bitcoin has evolved as the first digital money that is truly money for everyone.
